Mardi Gras - Laissez les bons temps rouler

  • The Sound Room 3022 Broadway Oakland, CA, 94611 United States (map)

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, refers to a Carnival celebration that signals the start of the Lenten season. Typically, this is a day of celebration in New Orleans and throughout the world. For the Sound Room, last year's Mardi Gras celebration was the last big celebration. We had a packed room of celebration. Thereafter, the reality of the pandemic started to affect our interactions. This year, we are bringing you the band for your own celebration. So stay home and tune in!

We know working and schooling at home has affected all of our schedules. So we will start the celebration on Fat Tuesday and run the show through our usual Saturday schedule.

Born on the streets of San Francisco in the early 70's, The Medicine Ball Band continues containing top level musicians and always hanging on to roots from New Orleans. This year's Mardi Gras event will feature a stellar lineup:
David Sturdevant- guitar, banjo, harmonica and vocals;
"Mr Clarinet" John Stafford from New Orleans
Charlie Hickox on piano, left hand bass and vocals
Nancy Wright on sax and vocals
Rhonda Benin on vocals
Geechi Taylor on trumpets
Rob Rhoades on drums
Kazeem Erlebute on trombone

So join us for a celebration reminiscent of music on the street corners of New Orleans.
