Mads Tolling, Mitch Polzak and Matt Rollings

  • The Sound Room 3022 Broadway Oakland, CA, 94611 United States (map)

Two-time Grammy Award-Winning Violinist Mads Tolling is a creative force around the SF Bay Area. As a former member of Stanley Clarke’s band and the Turtle Island Quartet, Mads now tours with Bob Weir & Wolf Bros, and he leads his own ensembles, including Mads Tolling & The Mads Men.

For tonight’s performance Mads has put together a special ensemble that combines jazz with rockabilly and folk music. Joining him are guitarist/vocalist Mitch Polzak and pianist Matt Rollings.

A force of nature in the Bay Area, Mitch Polzak plays everything from the Bakersfield Sound to Bluegrass, pulling out the banjo and mandolin sometimes too. He draws inspiration from Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Marty Stuart to name a few.

Matt Rollings just relocated from Nashville to Northern California, and he is one of the most recorded pianists in the US. His many credits include tours with Allison Kraus, Mark Knopfler and producing Willie Nelson’s albums “Summertime” and “My Way.” A jack of all trades, Matt is an amazing jazz pianist, and the evening will include duets with Mads – with the two virtuosos doing their thing.

Completing the group is the killer rhythm section of Tim Wagar on bass and Timothy Orr on drums.

Come see Mads, Mitch and Matt – MMM – a group not to miss!
