A new voice in Jazz! Sometimes you open an email and get a pleasant surprise. That was the case when we were contacted by this singer. June hails from Santa Cruz but is studying in Miami. When we heard her voice, we knew we needed to find a date. We booked her in July and we are thrilled she is coming back. Take a listen and you will see what we mean: June Cavlan singing

June Cavlan is a vocalist, arranger, and teacher from Santa Cruz, California who is currently studying Jazz Vocal Performance at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami and pursuing a music degree focused on performance, composition, arranging, and improvisation.

June has won Downbeat awards for her group singing and was a Youngarts Winner as a solo vocalist. She has performed at renowned venues across the country as a soloist and group member including The Birdland Jazz Club, Carnegie Hall, and The Kuumbwa Jazz Center. Just last month Downbeat Magazine announced her as the winner for the 2022 best jazz vocalist in an undergraduate program in America.

Currently, June is working in both Miami and the Bay Area. She is often performing with her quartet, with big bands, and in vocal groups.
