Jazz for Lovers - A Valentine's Weekend Event with Nicolas Bearde

  • The Sound Room 3022 Broadway Oakland, CA, 94611 United States (map)

A native of Nashville, TN, Bearde who now resides in the San Francsico/Bay area is a bona fide jazz master who first made his mark more than 30 years ago as a founding member of Bobby McFerrin's wildly innovative vocal ensemble, "Voicestra" and for the past several years has travelled the world as the vocalist/narrator for NY-based sax legend, Vincent Herring's "Story of Jazz Orchestra" that chronicles 100 years of recorded jazz.

He has released 6 solo albums on the Right Groove Record label, and has won accolades from critics and jazz audiences worldwide for his "velvet tone" and engaging performances... his last 2 albums rising quickly to the Top 20 on the Jazz Week Charts, garnering rave reviews at home and abroad.

Bearde's music has been critically acclaimed by Jazziz, Jazz Times, Jazz Week and All About Jazz, and as leader has performed and/or recorded around the world from San Francisco and New York to London, Paris, Moscow and Bejing with luminaries such as Vincent Herring, Eric Alexander, Steve Turre, Mike LeDonne, Bernard Purdie, Nat Adderley Jr. and more.
