George Kahn Quartet

  • The Sound Room 3022 Broadway Oakland, CA, 94611 United States (map)

When a young musician’s sources of inspiration are jazz greats like Dave Brubeck, Ramsey Lewis, Joe Sample, Vince Guaraldi and Wynton Kelly, you’d figure that his own music would turn out to be pretty special...and in the case of jazz pianist and composer George Kahn, you’d be right.  His music captures the feel of the West Coast Jazz scene of the 50’s & 60’s, but with a contemporary edge.  George has incorporated many styles including bebop, smooth jazz, blues, Latin and New Orleans rhythms. He has released ten self-produced CDs. The most recent release, “George Kahn Quartet –Dreamcatcher” hit #5 on the JazzWeek radio charts in January 2021.

George will be playing with Will Brahm, a five time consecutive recipient of the “K-jazz” scholarship.  In 2019 he was a Semi-Finalist in the Herbie Hancock International Guitar Competition. He has released three studio albums and tours with trumpet Legend Arturo Sandoval, with the New West Guitar Group, and has toured the world with his own group as well.

They will be playing with Mark Heshima Williams on bass and Rob Rhodes on drums
