Classical Sound Room with RossoRose

  • The Sound Room 3022 Broadway Oakland, CA, 94611 United States (map)

In it’s day, Classical music was popular music. Recently, however, it has moved to the symphony halls. Join us for a great evening of beautiful music in a comfortable setting.

Alisa Rose (violin) and Amy Zanrosso (piano) joined forces in 2015 to form The RossoRose Duo. These two powerhouse, genre-bending musicians are intent on exploring what it means to be a piano and violin duo in the 21st century. Hell-bent on playing music they are passionate about, Amy and Alisa fully exploit their classical training performing heavy hitters like Bartok and Prokofiev while taking advantage of the influence their forays into other musical styles such as bluegrass and tango have had on their already unique approach.

Grammy-nominated violinist and composer Alisa Rose is a modern musician who easily navigates between many musical styles. With roots in classical music as well as the rich American musical tradition, she attracts attention for her expressive and lyrical voice on the violin. Her stylistic fluidity gives her the ability to create unique and genuine music which is free from the constraints of genre.

Chamber musician and soloist Amy Zanrosso has worked within a wide range of musical genres – classical, contemporary, musical theatre, German cabaret and tango. Much in demand as a collaborator, and a chamber musician at heart, Amy is steadily realizing her master plan of learning and performing all existing piano chamber music and when not practicing Beethoven or Brahms, she can be found hanging out with her husband and dog or riding her bike to rehearsals.

RossoRose will be performing a selection of Metallica and Rachmaninoff-inspired Preludes by Lera Auerbach, Schumann’s heartbreaking and anxiety-ridden Violin and Piano Sonata No. 1 in A minor and Brahms' dark and relentless 3rd Violin and Piano Sonata in D minor.
