Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival Comes to Oakland!
Dueling Violins - Bach, Kreisler, Debussy, and More
Emma Steele, violin
Aniela Eddy, violin
Ian Scarfe, piano
Joining us from her home in Copenhagen, Denmark, Emma Steele is a prize winner in numerous competitions and was the youngest appointed concertmaster of the Royal Danish Opera Company. She has studied at Carnegie Mellon University.
Now based in New York, violinist Aniela Eddy first appeared in the Bay Areas classical music scene as a student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has a long list of appearances at festivals, across the U.S. and internationally, and has been a regular collaborator with many musicians.
The music tonight will take us on a tour of the violin, with lyrical showpieces of Fritz Kreisler, jazzy rhythms of George Gershwin, lush Impressionism by Claude Debussy, and the pure perfection of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Scarfe and the other musicians will share stories about their lives and careers in music, as well as special tidbits of history and context about the music.
