Artist Reception: Wenda Pyman

  • The Sound Room 3022 Broadway Oakland, CA, 94611 United States (map)

Wenda Pyman is a landscape, nature and travel photographer.  She is basically self taught but honed her skills by taking workshops from some of the greats, starting with Ansel Adams in 1978.  Over the years she has taken courses to refine her techniques and her “art of seeing” at University of California Berkeley Extension courses, ASUC Studios and Future Light Workshops. She entered the digital world in 2007 and has found that it enables her to go beyond the limitations of film. She tends to use these tools to leverage her creative vision while still embracing realism.

Wenda’s body of work reflects her all-consuming passion to capture diverse patterns and imagery, both locally and worldwide.  Her style reveals a unique perception of her surroundings. For her, it is not just about finding a perfect location or composition, but finding harmony and balance between elements of color, lines, texture and shapes that are both pleasing to her and the viewer.  Photography for her is a means of self-expression as well as an outlet from the stresses of everyday life.
